Fino Bar and Restaurant Reviews
- Joburg

"Next door is Fino, an elegant tapas bar recently bought by two restaurateurs: Cristina Sato, owner of the highly-rated Yamato; and Zane Beer, former manager at Assagi. The cold tapas menu ranges from crostini to tomates rellinos and ceviche, and hot tapas includes mejillones (mussels in wine), lentil stew and albondigas (meatballs in tomato sauce). The new owners are adding even more tapas based on seafood and expanding the range of main dishes. The menu currently includes such delicacies as garlic and rosemary-roasted baby chicken and rolled beef: horseradish, cream, artichokes, omelette and watercress, as well as pastas. "After this ham, others are sham
I reviewed Fino in Parktown North a couple of years ago, but during recent visits have been even more impressed with chef-proprietor Zane de Beer’s growing range of dishes and ingredient sourcing. For example, Spain has two famous hams. Serrano is slowly finding its way into local delis alongside its Italian Parma and San Daniele counterparts. Ibérico, in contrast, has been virtually unknown, largely due to its fabulous price. " Read the full review on Cooking Bear Restaurant's website
